Rooftop Season: Outfits of the Day

Featured is the majestic and fabulous Nikita Roach (who is actually a Forever 21 model!) in a Target romper and red felt American Apparel hat. On yours truly is (Nikita’s) Target skirt and Theory white top and Rocksbox statement piece. Shoes are from Marshall’s with Tiffanys rings and bracelets. Nikita’s “tennis” bracelet is actually from Wimbleton! Can’t wait for the U.S. Open to try to find a matching one.            Xo, Julia

These jewels come hand-curated in a little white box with a cute little personalized note.  Want your free month? My treat. The Roaring Twenties: Glitter and Candy Cocktails

Two posts in one day? Just trying to make up for lost time. I just wanted to thank everyone who reached out to wish me a happy birthday! It was happy indeed, thanks to my lovely friends and family. Pictured is a scalloped magnolia cake with gold foil candles and a Slate + Willow glitter romper. My favorite cocktail for this weekend was candy champagne! For a candy store champagne, pour champagne (for the 21+ guests!) over cotton candy or a stick of rock candy.  You can take pieces of either for a beautiful garnish!  Thank you again for the birthday wishes! Xo, Julia

Outfit of the Day: Dreaming in Lavender

Hello my loves, My apologies for my MIA few weeks. I’ve been hard at work and hard at play. I turned 20 on Tuesday! So excited to have shared it with my friends and family and tons of Magnolia vanilla cake and confetti. Here is my OOTD taken by the lovely Nikita, featuring a vintage Lavender jacket and Necessary clothing watercolor shorts. Wide brimmed hat frugally purchased on the street, and lovely silver Sam Edelman flats (post to come on the perfect intern flats!)  Xo, Julia

At Home Summer Carnival with Fresh Beignets

Hello lovelies! My apologies for being completely MIA for weeks, but finals are over and life is getting a little  warmer and sweeter. My last final was today, but last night to relax before my psychology exam, I made beignets with my boyfriend. There’s something so surreal about this time of year when the streets are lined with confetti and cotton candy machines, and these French donuts elicit the exact same Americana street-fair summer day feeling. Ingredients 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 envelope active dry yeast 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 1/4 teaspoons salt 1 cup evaporated milk 7 cups bread flour 1/4 cup shortening Nonstick spray Oil, for deep-frying 3 cups confectioners’ sugar 1) Mix water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl and let sit for 10 minutes. 2) In another bowl, beat the eggs, salt and evaporated milk together. Mix egg mixture to the yeast mixture. In a separate bowl, measure out the bread flour. Add 3 cups of the flour to the yeast mixture and stir …

Cabana Cool: Ice-Whites for Spring and Summer

Hello my darlings! I am posting from the endless summer that is Guanacaste, Costa Rica. I have been living in feather-light linens, sweet pastels, and ocean-kissed curled locks. Makeup inspired by that one Marilyn Monroe beach photoshoot (cue green sweaters and too-pink lips), and American Apparel Cali Sun & Fun one piece inspired by the strong Costaricense sun not agreeing with my Polish complexion (burns on burns). Layering ruffled whites and creams creates a luxe yet airy way to frolic in the sun. Silly costume sunglass pieces (mine $3 from 1960’s Sur de France) bring life to too-perfect ice whites. Hasta luego, beauties! xo, Julia

My Funny Galentine: Party Decor

Hi everyone! I am so, so excited to celebrate all of my female friendships this Friday with Rom-coms, Russel Strover’s, and Champagne cupcakes (recipe to come!). I am also super excited for Saturday to celebrate Valentine’s with my boyfriend by swing dancing at Barbetta! To prepare for Friday, I’ve started to craft little Valentine’s with glitter glue and write nice things about each person on the back of them. I’ve also gone to Party City and spent a total of $6 on cute heart garlands and other heart decorations! If you are having a brunch or cocktail party for your Galentine’s, I recommend decorating in the most luxe way as possible. Visions of overflowing sweets, pastries, and candies evoke feelings of the most beautiful decadence (Think that “I Want Candy” Scene of Marie Antoinette). Lit scented candles, fresh flowers, and extra plush throws and pillows add to the luxury vibe. Think of Valentine’s Day as a time to celebrate all the loves in your life; filial, self-love, and friendship. Send flowers to your mother, treat yourself …

Pink Christmasses

This Christmas, I propose: sparkling cider poured over cotton candy and jewel-toned stockings beyond emerald and ruby. While I can listen to Sufjan Stevens’ “Silver and Gold” album endlessly and endlessly, it is time for a few little changes. My Christmas sweater this year is an “Urban Renewal” piece reconstructed from the 80’s, filled with beads on beads of bright pink and Christmas cheer. Pink ribbons on presents and pastel frosted gingerbread bring a sweet, old cottage charm to the holidays. xo, Julia
